Q: How has growing up from Scotland affected your music?
Clark: Growing up in Scotland, I was always surrounded by such a variety of music. There was always music playing, and my family have always been passionate about and enjoyed playing and making music. This had a big influence on me, as it was such a big part of my life from a young age!
Q: Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?
Clark: Yes! I had always had a passion for music but didn’t dare to dream about it being a career path for many years. My brother, Stephen had always encouraged me to take the leap and just go for it, and in the past I had dismissed it, as I had gone down a different path and couldn’t see a way out, but then one summer he encouraged me again, and it just clicked! He was right! I had to take the leap and go all in!!! I was scared but so excited as I just knew in my gut, this was what I had to do! So I left my job as a teacher and went for it!
Q: Did any real-life events occur in your life that inspired “Ready To Roll?
Clark: Yes, the whole song was really written at a time in 2020 during the pandemic, where things were still very uncertain and scary, but for the first time in a long time, there seemed to be some kind of hope! Things started to feel possible again, like we were coming through that dark tunnel, and heading into a brighter future! The song then developed even further into the idea that we can choose our path in life, and we can take ownership of our lives, whatever we decide to do! Hopefully it empowers the listener to take that step into the direction of their own hopes and dreams!
Q: We think you have great vocals! Who are your biggest influences?
Clark: Thank you so much!! I grew up listening to the wonderful legends like Ella Fitzergard, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston and so many more! I was very inspired by these incredible vocalists that had so much heart, power and soul in their voices and music.
Q: What is coming up next for you?
Clark: I’m gearing up for the next single from my upcoming EP which will be released soon! The full EP is coming in September and I’m so excited to share these songs!!! Hopefully I’ll be touring the record and getting to play the songs live for people soon too!
