Artist Interview: “Social Sessions” by Melanie Pierce

Q: We love these live acoustic tracks! What prompted a live EP?

MELANIE PIERCE: Thank you so much! The pandemic and the lack of live show opportunities really sparked the interest in me to record a live EP. I wanted to showcase a bit of who I am as a performer and thought that a live EP would be a good way to do that.

Q: Do you have any live performances we can catch you at soon?

MELANIE: I do, yes! I’ll be playing at the BlueStage in Napoleon, MI on September 9th! I’m currently booking as many live performance opportunities as I possibly can.

Q: What was the most fun song you recorded from this EP?

MELANIE: I really loved re-imagining these songs. I think if I had to pick one, I had the most fun performing “Headlights” in this new, re-imagined way.

Q: What’s an average day like for you?

MELANIE: Well, I work a full time job at the moment, so I’m typically working all day. When I get home, I write music & I practice a lot. I set aside time to workout as well as journal/meditate/and ground myself. I also really love to read, and am currently reading The Winter Night Trilogy by Katherine Arden.

Q: Do you write your own songs or is there a collaborator that you enjoy working with consistency?

MELANIE: I do write my songs. I love writing music and experimenting with new ideas and possibilities. I work the most consistently with my producer, Jake Rye. We have a really good groove and can bounce ideas off of one another very easily. It makes for a great space to create.

Q: What can we expect from you next?

MELANIE: Definitely expect a lot of live shows and new music coming… soon!
