Taylor Xo blessed us with his recently released and surprisingly nostalgic R&B single “Dillon Blue.” Surprisingly nostalgic because the song isn’t anything like today’s R&B. In fact, it takes us back to the late ‘90s and early ‘00s where R&B songs squeezed your heart and made you feel the emotions associated with the song.
Xo succeeds in grabbing and holding the listener’s attention through his smooth vocals, and I love how he doesn’t hold back on showing his vocal range while maintaining control when switching from chest to head voice.
On top of enjoying Xo’s voice, you get swept up in the addicting harmonies, and melodies in the piece, especially the heart-gripping guitar melodies — they enhance the emotion in the track.
I didn’t expect any rapping, but it was the icing on the cake. There were great bars, and I’m glad that it didn’t take away the emotion or the enjoyment from the record. The entire production of “Dillon Blue” is phenomenal, from the instrumentation to the vocals.
It’s remarkable how well the instrumentation and vocals work well together, yet Xo’s vocal quality continues to shine without taking away from the instrumentals and vice versa.
Taylor Xo is an outstanding artist, and there’s no doubt that he’s going to go far with his music career. He possesses this extraordinary and rare talent we’re lucky to witness and hope to hear more of it. You can find “Dillon Blue” on all music streaming platforms.
