Whether you’re 19 or 76, if your heart guides you towards something, you have to do it. For Allan Corby, he’s been keen on music ever since he was a young teen. Only the ins and outs of life led him down a different path for 40-some years but now he’s back at it and cranking out wonderful folk music with “Love is a Merry-Go-Round.”
One of my favorite aspects of acoustic folk music is how much emotion can be packed in the simplicity of the arrangement. Right away, you’re drawn into the lighthearted yet sincere guitar that guides you towards Allan Corby’s honesty as he gives way to a tale of the realities of love. We often hear about life and love being a rollercoaster, but I like that Allan Corby has taken it to a more stable carnival ride for his analogy put to song.
Allan Corby knows his way around a guitar because again, he’s been at it since he was just 13-years-old. From there he landed in a folk trio, and in the ‘70s found himself on the radio doing something very unique. He taught guitar chords on air to popular songs. A record deal led to producing pop and disco tracks, but then he decided to step away from the industry to focus on family. Now in his 70’s, he’s back at it with a handful of new singles released in 2021, and more on the way with an album set for Fall 2022.
While we wait with anticipation for the album, we can sit tight with the plethora of singles he has for us now. “Love is a Merry-Go-Round” and all the rest of his music is available now on all major music and streaming platforms.
