“Down The Rabbit Hole” by Naëve

“Down the Rabbit Hole” by Naëve is as wild of an adventure as the name implies. Jazzy, sultry vocals are complemented by a big band that supports and nourishes the groove. The type of song that makes you want to get up and swing dance (although I personally have no idea how). Every different voice is given ample opportunity to show off which they seize eagerly. The energy starts off high and doesn’t slow down for the entire ~3 minute groove.

Every new verse came with new nuances. Sometimes thinning out so as to let the vocals have the spotlight almost exclusively, while at others supporting voices would add cool riffs of their own to the groove. Although big band music has been around for almost a century, Naëve sound’s new and refreshing. From the lead singer to the tight horn lines, everything locked together perfectly. With the fun, energetic vocals leading the groove there is never a moment that isn’t exciting. The lyrics matched the mood and were easily heard despite the thick texture. In fact, no matter what was happening the vocals demanded attention and pushed the song through its highs and lows.

Both catchy and nostalgic, the big band does a phenomenal job supporting the powerful vocals. “Down The Rabbit Hole” is an absolute delight to listen to. Impossible to get out of your head once you’ve heard it, not that you’d want to. I loved the playful atmosphere and energy that went into the performance. Definitely not a song you’re going to want to miss.

“Down The Rabbit Hole” by Naëve is available now on any major streaming services.
