Artist Interview: “So Much For Summer – EP” by Lutfia

Q: I love the energy of your new EP ‘So Much For Summer’. What’s the inspiration behind it?

Lutfia: The inspiration behind the EP was wanting to make a project that represented all the different facets of my personality as an artist and as a human being as well. I think there’s something about the title too ‘So Much For Summer’, because there’s something quite melancholic about all the songs. All the songs are very sincere to me, and all about stuff that’s happened in my life.

Q: What did you enjoy most about making this EP?

Lutfia: I really loved seeing all the songs come to life with the production aspect – that was really cool. But the think I enjoy the most is hands down the writing; sitting at my piano, coming up with words, melodies, chord progressions. It’s just my absolute favourite thing to do and what I enjoy most. I love creating music like that; it’s such an important thing for me.

Q: Who would you most like to collaborate with, if it could be anyone in the world?

Lutfia: There are a lot! Top of the list though is Eminem. He’s my favourite artist of all time; just singing the hook on the chorus on one of his songs; that would be amazing. I’d also love to work with Dr Dre, he’s another big inspiration of mine and someone I really admire and whose work I’m just in love with. If I one day got to work with Eminem I’d be very very happy!

Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?

Lutfia: One thing that I really pride myself on in terms of the music that I make is my chord progressions. It’s my favourite aspect of writing; I try steer away from overused chord progressions that you typically hear in songs. I think lyrically, I really strive to be as honest and as sincere as possible. I think all the songs on this EP are very heartfelt; about me and the things I feel! It’s all about my feelings and my experiences.

Q: What projects are currently in the works?

Lutfia: I’m gonna be working on a music video which will hopefully be out some time in the New Year, and I’m currently releasing a bunch of lyrics videos for the tracks on the EP. As soon as that’s done, I’m gonna be starting work on my debut album, and I’m looking forward to working on that so much!

Q: Any parting words to your fans?

Lutfia: Thank you for listening to my music! And I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I loved making it! Keep listening and supporting – I really appreciate anyone who has listened to my music and enjoyed it; it really does mean the absolute world to me.
