Daniel Thompson is the person behind his project Lavender Honey, where he is responsible for guitar, keys, bass, producer, and the unique voice. His latest track “Need Your Love” is Thompson’s debut single. It’s a bedroom pop track with elements of indie pop, melodic pop, and is oh so dreamy. Beginning with an ultra-addicting tune on the keys, Thompson’s silky smooth voice comes in, making the track have a surreal, ethereal feeling to it.
“Need Your Love” is the perfect song to listen to on long rides with the windows down. It’s one of those tracks that is so catchy upon first listening, and you’re guaranteed to listen over and over again without getting tired of it. Reminiscent of bedroom pop artists like Dayglow and Clairo, fans of this type of music won’t be able to get enough of it.
The track is about needing someone’s love, and fighting one’s demons, which is something that anyone can relate to. As the song continues, the instrumental gradually gets louder: soaring guitars, the keys, and Thompson’s breathlike voice. “Need Your Love” is the multi-talented artist’s first track, which gives us a glimpse of what is to come, with his rich, smooth vocals along with this beautiful, uplifting track.
Thompson is originally from Maryland, but recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee to follow his dreams as a musician. His music is bedroom pop with influences of ‘80s synthpop that is so refreshing. When the COVID19 pandemic hit, Thompson began his solo career as Lavender Honey, and even performed in Nashville. With “Need Your Love” being such a fun, upbeat track with melodic lyrics, it is so exciting to see what he has next.
