If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s how many feel about almost every genre of music but without a little fixin’ here and there, we’d be left singing the same song on repeat, right? With that, when it comes to country music some standards tend to always hit it out of the park, and Hayden Haddock hits all of those on the head with “Better Than Your Memory.” However, this Texas boy also delivers his latest single in a way that lets audiences know he’s not afraid to take a chance.
Those chances are rooted in the way Hayden Haddock doesn’t do the expected within the chorus and verses. He elevates how he delivers them, and while it’s a small thing – it makes the song feel fresher than if he’d just done it the same way we’ve heard a million times before. Now, for those thinking this is a song out of left field, just know that the heart of this track is pure country on a Friday night at your favorite local bar. Around the two-minute mark, comes that classic country part where the crowd is encouraged to sing along. Think of the end of “Friends in Low Places” when it becomes a chorus of sorts.
Hayden Haddock has been putting in the work touring and winning the emerging new artist title at the Texas Regional Radio Awards. With that behind him, he’s got the world ahead as he gears up for his Fall 2022 EP release. It follows two albums, including 2020’s ‘Red Dirt Texas.’ “Better Than Your Memory” is just a taste of what’s to come on that EP, and he’ll be releasing a few more singles to keep fans satisfied as they wait for the new record to officially drop this fall.
