“Playboy Driver” by 9 o’clock Nasty

The intense groove of “Playboy Driver” is addicting. The latest release by the UK-based heavy rock band 9 o’clock Nasty is exciting and catchy. It’s an amped-up song that couldn’t care less what you think of it. Infectious melodies in the rhythm section meet vocals that carry this ode-to-garage rock along.

Released alongside the new Formula 1 season the song matches the sports high-energy. Capturing the feeling of wind through your hair and not knowing the speed limit, “Playboy Driver” is in your face and unapologetic about it. The type of song that will have you feeling cool and reaching to turn your radio up. Exactly what I imagine goes through Vin Diesel’s head during the Fast & Furious movies.

What kept me coming back to “Playboy Driver” was the rhythm sections energy and how well they supported the vocals. Whether supporting the cadence-like chorus or the unpredictable verses everything felt rock steady and exciting. Not only that, but it allowed the lead vocals the freedom to do whatever while still sounding full and familiar. 9 o’clock Nasty sounded as tight-knit and as in sync as it gets.

Coming in at a little over four minutes, the length is nothing out of the ordinary. It’s how the band kept the energy through the roof without losing steam. From the moment the guitar opens everything up with the recurring melody to the shout-chorus like lead vocals there wasn’t a moment 9 o’clock Nasty weren’t bringing their all. Their passionate performance will have “Playboy Driver” ringing in your head for hours.

“Playboy Driver” by 9 o’clock Nasty is available now on any major streaming services.
