“Ford Motel” by Scot Free Sessions

Collaborations, especially over the past two years, have been on the rise and we aren’t complaining. Masterful musicians coming together to create, we love to see it – especially from Scot Free Sessions. Kickstarted into gear by Scot Robinson, the Alberta-based musician banded together with a cascade of other talented folks for a new album due out this fall but for a taste of what’s to come, the debut single, “Ford Motel.”

What I love about “Ford Motel” is how nostalgic it made me for those summer mornings where the promise of McDonald’s breakfast lured my brother out of bed and into my mom’s pickup before the sun came up so that we’d beat the traffic to Arizona. It is this lovely Americana-infused combination of skills featuring Bobby Cameron, James LoMenzo, and Kenny Aronoff that takes the beauty of that straightforward storytelling and interweaves it with classic instrumentation. “For Motel” is the perfect choice for a playlist that features the likes of Bob Dylan and the Eagles.

When “Ford Motel” started, I just knew what was coming with the big musical moment that breaks the story up, the verses from the chorus – but I still waited in anticipation, and was excited when said moment arrived. Perfect for the season before the leaves turn, one cannot wait to hear what’s to come on the rest of the record from Scot Free Sessions later this year. While we all wait on the release of ‘Edmonton Skyline,’ make sure to check out Scot Free Sessions on all major music and streaming platforms today.
