Lucy Clue delivers a catchy and captivating song about not being able to get someone out of your head with her new single “In Your Eyes.” This track uses throwback synths, steady drums, and multi-genre styles to create a sonically unique experience. The lyrics center around a newfound love interest- someone that has begun to take up space in your thoughts, and is not keen to leave no matter what you do. The beginnings of love are exciting, if a bit scary, and Clue puts all those feelings into words with “In Your Eyes.”
“I can’t stop thinking about you” is a line that appears several times throughout the song. It’s that classic idea of falling in love being all consuming. This person is all you think about- you want to know what they’re doing, what they’re thinking, and if they feel the same about you. This line also has some vocal modulation, which is a cool sonic metaphor for how discombobulating a crush can be.
Clue includes a couple sections in this song sung in Spanish. These sections are a contrast to most of the song, slowing down and stripping back the instrumentation to place the focus on Clue’s enticing and flirtatious vocals. When you like someone, you want to do what you can to draw them in and get them to be interested in you. Clue draws both the listener and her love interest in with this fantastic song.
