Louis and the Shakes have given their listeners a song they can move to. “Time Has Come” is indie rock at its most groovy.
The group is based out of London and is made up of members Louis, Will, Manny and Jamie who met over 5 years ago. They were originally named the Louis Antoniou Project but after performing at several festivals including IOW and YNOT Great Escape, they now go by Louis and the Shakes.
Their sound is a mix of alternative/indie rock and would be a great new band for fans of the Arctic Monkeys. Their newest song “Time Has Come” is booming with dynamic drumming and killer bass. The melody is incredibly catchy and upbeat and dives into subject matter that is deeply personal. The lyrics discuss Louis’ struggle with mental health issues while coming out of lockdown. He shares, “I wanted to write a song about overcoming demons, facing them head on, staying strong. Writing an empowering song for people out there that deal with mental health.”
I could easily see this song being a comfort for fans going through a dark time. The instrumentals take the listener through a journey of accomplishment and overcoming obstacles. The part that stood out to me the most was:
I wasn’t feeling too clever
I used to lie awake and shiver
But now my vision’s getting clearer
Ain’t no demons I can’t outrun
Think I’m finished but I aint done
Louis and the Shakes captures a wonderful feeling: escape. “Time Has Come” is a message for anyone going through rough waters to hold on tight and wait until the sea has calmed down. You may not see the finish line now, but you will soon.
