“Haunted By You” by Bradley Denniston is one the catchiest, most satisfying songs you’ll ever hear. The 80s-inspired production style paired with Bradley’s powerful vocal performance culminates in a groove like no other–it’s fast-paced. It’s teeming with textures. It’s any music lover’s dream.
We’re ushered into the track with a pithy drum machine and a sparkly synth riff. Background vocals carve out a simple melody, which is soon overtaken by the lead: “Sunday morning never hurt this bad / I woke up to make you laugh.” The instrumentation fizzles until it’s just bass and drums, allowing the vocals to take center stage. Harmonies envelop Bradley’s chesty, dynamic voice as the verse carries on.
An anticipatory pre-chorus escorts us into a climactic wash of synths, guitars, and belted vocals. Bradley wails atop this warm rush of reverb-drenched instrumentation. It’s the kind of chorus that differentiates itself from the other sections by being bathed in this constant, profuse harmony. Rather than short, minimalistic rhythms we a get wide, ethereal crescendo. It’s saturated with relief. Plus, the melody forms a gorgeously memorable arc. There’s not much else to say other than, frankly, it’s fantastic.
If you’re interested in synth rock, give “Haunted By You” a chance. Bradley Denniston is not only a talented artist but an accomplished one at that. With a large discography and a slew of accolades under his belt, he’s bound to win you over. Be sure to show him some love on your choice of streaming service or social media!
