“Hero (demo version 2)” by Mark Pulsipher

Singer-songwriter Mark Pulsipher’s latest release, “Hero (demo version 2),” is a profoundly emotional tribute to his nephew, a victim of gun violence. With its stripped-down instrumentation, the song spotlights Pulsipher’s raw vocals and poignant lyrics. It’s a heartfelt reflection on life and dreams, a beautiful sentiment dedicated to his late nephew.

“Hero (demo version 2)” begins with a melancholic tune, softly strummed by the guitar–Pulsipher’s vocals arrive with a Bob Dylan-esque feel. Lyrics such as “What do you see when you look at me?” and “I am no one’s zero; I am someone’s hero” are repeated throughout, accentuating the belief that we are all someone’s heroes and should never give up on our dreams.

Pulsipher’s innate talent for songwriting is highlighted within “Hero (demo version 2).” He emphasizes the belief that there always is a reason to stay on this earth and that we mean everything to someone–sometimes even being their hero.

The song was completed before the tragic loss of Pulsipher’s nephew, who was shot by his roommate at the tender age of nineteen. “Hero (demo version 2)” was released on June 29th, a significant day that marked Pulsipher’s nephew’s twenty-first birthday and his parent’s fifty-third wedding anniversary. The track is now available on all major music streaming platforms, a deeply personal and emotional offering from Pulsipher.
