“Not a Big Deal” by The Optimists

The Optimists’ latest single, “Not a Big Deal,” is not just another rock song–It’s an electrifying energy bursting out in the music scene. The group’s nostalgic Britpop/punk sound, reminiscent of artists like The Clash or The Damned, is uniquely blended with hints of indie and alternative rock. The song’s continuous momentum keeps it from ever getting dull, making “Not a Big Deal” a significant addition to the rock music scene.

“Not a Big Deal” opens up with a hard-hitting instrumental consisting of drumming and jangly guitars. Frontman Matt Reads’ intoxicating voice arrives, sung in a fun-loving mix of scream-like vocals back to indie rock in seconds. This genre-fusing element keeps the listener engaged and on their toes, as The Optimists’ energy in “Not a Big Deal” never dissipates.

The Optimists, a five-piece Isle of Wight, UK rock band, formed in 2018, and have continued to consistently create energetic, uplifting music. Their alluring sound is meant to be heard live, a dream they were able to do when they performed on the Isle of Wight Festival’s main stage. Their journey continues, with a performance at the 2024 Victorious Festival on the horizon.

As the title suggests, “Not a Big Deal” is about not taking life too seriously. Matt Reads stated, “Lyrics followed shortly after a rough December that left a bitter taste towards someone. ‘Not a Big Deal’ is about having a carefree attitude, without the consequence of others.” Listen to the track now, available on major music streaming platforms.
