Taking a personal moment and translating it into a relatable song, Norweigan pop artsist Formoe has worked with well-known artist and lyricist Terje Formoe on his release “Dreams of Yesterday.” Terje Formoe has written music geared to families and folk performances, so it was an easy switch for Terje Formoe to work with Formoe on the lyrics to a song like this one.
Formoe worked again with singer Julie Baltzersen, who lends her voice on Formoe’s other track “Always.” He was also joined by his collaborators Alf-Emil Eik and Roar Farstad to create a beautiful world for this song to live in.
The music is best described as a pairing of pop and a New Age sound, allowing for more theatrics and drama to be intertwined in the piece. The verse has an intense build with Baltzersen’s voice feeling almost haunting as she recalls the one she lost. The production feels thick like a fog, in an intentional way, it shows the flooding of memories and how many stick around after the one you love is gone.
“Dreams of Yesterday” has been paired with an animated video that was garnered the attention of some music video festivals. It really paints the picture of the main character struggling watching her loved on sick in the hospital while her “dreams of yesterday” show simpler and sweeter times. This music video has a realistic ending to, and it definitely is worth giving it a watch.
Formoe has both creative production and lyricism, he knows his strengths and knows how to find collaborators who make him even stronger. His career is very exciting to watch.
