Despite the dense arrangement, each element in the song blends beautifully with the sounds around it. The electric guitars dance around the vocal melody as the drums and bass provide the chugging backbone of the song. The satisfying interplay of all of the different parts of the arrangement displays Pent Up!’s clear artistic vision, as well as their notable talent. This becomes all the more impressive when you consider that Pent Up! did not use a click track when recording this song, meaning that the live drums and the band member’s chemistry with each other determined the tempo, instead of a metronome. You can feel the rawness of this approach in the track, with minute changes in speed occurring during higher energy sections, adding tension that makes the listener feel like they are experiencing a real-time, live performance.
The passionate vocals add angst, the drum fills add anticipation, and the guitars add invigorating ear candy. “Be There Soon” is a great track, and will be part of an upcoming EP from Pent Up! that is sure to be equally as good.
