The first track on the album, “A Thousand Suns” is a sweet tune about living in the moment with someone you love. The line “there are a thousand suns, but you’re the only one I see” is a lovely sentiment that tells us just how important this person is. When you have love in your life, romantic or otherwise, it can sometimes feel like you are being shielded from your lowest emotions. Instead of lamenting a difficult or unlucky day, you might find yourself saying “today is just a day.” Electric guitar hooks, atmospheric textures, and intense drums match the passion found through that perspective.
This album closes with the title track, a moving tune filled with grungy guitars, layered harmonies, and cinematic drums. This vulnerable song talks about the pressure to always make it appear like everything is okay, even when it’s not. Lyrics like “can’t let you know that I’m falling apart” explore that experience of feeling chaos beneath the surface, but working to come across calm to everyone else. These authentic topics, as well as The Indestructible Water Bear’s captivating arrangements, make “Everything is OK” a must listen album.
