“Better“ by Alla Igityan

“Better” by Alla Igityan is a folk pop track that is full of joy and hope. Igityan, a singer-songwriter from Berlin, Germany sings about that sigh of relief when you realize you’re finally starting to move on from an ex. With uplifting acoustic guitar strumming, pretty vocals, and story driven lyrics, “Better” offers inspiration for anyone trying to get through a breakup, reminding you that it is possible, and eventually you will feel better.

Lyrics like “today I found myself thinking that I’m not in pain, even though I still remember you every single day” and “I don’t mind all these memories of you” show Igityan accepting that she doesn’t have to be completely clean from this person in order to have moved on. The love they shared, the memories she treasured, are not just going to disappear, and that’s okay. What she focuses on is detaching from the pain and regret those memories used to bring. One of the best lines of the song is “falling in love with you, it felt great, but falling out of love feels better.” This is a poignant display of acceptance, and the ability to acknowledge all of the good this person brought you. But, at the end of the day, it feels better to be independent, free from the rumination over the breakup.

A steady kick drum, a pretty electric guitar solo, and playfully delivered vocals build the steady optimism of this song. If you are going through a breakup, no matter what stage in the process you are at, “Better” is there to help you on your journey.
