“Down“ by Consequential

“Down” by Consequential is a captivating track that blends elements of house, EDM, and pop to create a soundscape that is energetic and fun. Consequential is a music project based out of England that is known for creating innovative beats that take the listener to a whole new atmosphere. With a chaotic and satisfying arrangement that builds throughout the track, “Down” is the perfect soundtrack for club dancing, midnight driving, a house party, and everything in between.

The track opens with a spoken audio clip saying “freedom of the body helps in freeing the mind.” This message sets the scene for the riveting beat of “Down” that is so grooveable it practically forces you to dance, freeing both your body and your mind in pursuit of a good time. Thrumming bass, earworm melodies, and staccato chords craft the infectious energy that pulls you into “Down.” 

Tapping hi hats and a metronome-like percussion sound start the rhythm of “Down,” and a vocal chop provides satisfying ear candy that repeats throughout the arrangement. Synths begin flaring up and crafting the atmosphere as more vocal chops ripple across the song and a staticky synth texture pulses in and out. Almost everything drops out for a moment before slamming back in with a catchy and upbeat drum rhythm. From that point on, the unrelenting beat makes sure you’re dancing the whole time, providing the backbone of the song, except for a few sparse moments that work to build anticipation until that rhythm comes back in.
