Ann Kittredge: A Cabaret Anniversary

Love For Sale: Ann Kittredge Marks Ten Years of Cabaret at Don’t Tell Mama

A decade ago, Ann Kittredge stepped into the cabaret world with curiosity, humility, and a willingness to begin again. Already a seasoned musical-theatre performer, she entered a genre that demanded something different—intimacy over projection, conversation over spectacle, and vulnerability in place of character. Ten years later, Kittredge returns to the room where that journey took root, celebrating her anniversary with Love For Sale: My 10 Years in Cabaret, presented in the Brick Room at Don’t Tell Mama on February 11 and February 14, 2026.

Rather than a single retrospective lens, Kittredge’s anniversary program functions as a curated tapestry—songs, arrangements, and stories drawn from across her cabaret canon. The evening revisits moments from her debut show It’s About Time (2016) and weaves through audience favorites from One Night Only, reIMAGINE, Movie Nite, Just in Time, Romantic Notions, An Evening of Ahrens & Flaherty, When in Love, and more. Each selection reflects not only where Kittredge has been, but how she has grown into a singer who fully inhabits her own voice.

At the piano is longtime collaborator and musical director Christopher Denny, whose musical partnership with Kittredge has been central to her cabaret identity. Together, they revisit beloved arrangements—including “It Might as Well Be Spring,” “Mr. Tambourine Man,” and “Garden,” the Ahrens & Flaherty song gifted to Kittredge for her acclaimed tribute Fancy Meeting You Here. The show is once again directed by Barry Kleinbort, whose guiding hand has helped shape many of Kittredge’s most celebrated programs.

The anniversary concerts also nod to Kittredge’s presence on the larger cabaret stage, including her performances at the Mabel Mercer Foundation Conventions—an honor reserved for artists recognized for interpretive excellence and storytelling depth. Those appearances affirmed what audiences already knew: Kittredge is a singer who understands that cabaret is not about display, but about exchange.

That exchange—between singer and audience—has become the defining feature of Kittredge’s cabaret career. Once apprehensive about claiming the room, she now embraces the unscripted moments, the laughter that shifts a song’s meaning, and the silences that speak as loudly as lyrics. “Cabaret taught me how to trust the room,” she has said. “And how to trust myself.”

Critics have taken notice. Brady Schwind of BroadwayWorld hailed her as a “story-songstress supreme,” a phrase that neatly captures the heart of her appeal. Kittredge doesn’t simply sing songs—she inhabits them, linking music to lived experience with clarity, humor, and emotional intelligence.

The choice of dates for Love For Sale feels intentional. February 11 offers reflection; Valentine’s Day leans into affection—both romantic and communal. In a time when connection feels increasingly precious, Kittredge’s celebration of ten years in cabaret is less about looking back than about reaffirming why this art form matters. It is, at its core, an evening devoted to musical love—and to sharing it generously.
