Much like N4November, I too thought that all the COVID stuff – the lockdowns, toilet paper hoarding, fear – wouldn’t last long. Fast forward to that being a lie we told ourselves, and like many, we were wondering just how we could utilize the time at home. I baked way too much, and N4November went on to create what would be his first official single, “Dear Friend.”
Cinephiles will be able to cherry-pick the lines throughout this film-inspired track that harkens back to the days of heartfelt emo like Dashboard Confessional and Saves The Day. There is this melancholic overtone throughout that fans of the emotive genre will instantly want to listen to. N4November also worked wonders when it came to the musical aspects as well as the verses give way to these theatrical moments of expression once the choruses kick in and deliver the parts that you know crowds are going to scream along to at a show.
On top of taking inspiration from film, N4November also wanted to pen a track that in many ways highlights mental health as well. It’s not just important to N4November, but to many around the world and while the stigma of even acknowledging mental health is fading, it’s still important that we continue to shine a light on the importance of being open about it, especially in a medium that can reach many like music.
This isn’t the first song N4November has penned, but the first taken through the process and released to the world. Inspired not only by film but also the gift of narrative Taylor Swift inhabits, N4November delivers with “Dear Friend,” available now on all major music and streaming platforms.
