Seventeen-year-old Tryzdin’s latest song “Poison” was released on February 28, 2022 via Grá Mór Phonic Records. The song was written by Tryzdin and produced by Billboard Top Twenty DJ and producer, Herber Skillz (Wayne Wonder, Pit Bull, Tory Lanez, King Doe Boi, Alonestar, Ed Sheeran). “Poison” also features guitarist Brent Paschke (Pharrell Williams, N.E.R.D.) and drummer Robert Brian (Siouxsie/Goldfrapp/Simple Minds).
“Poison” is about the struggles of addiction and Tryzdin blessed us with his take on it: “Addiction is something that everybody, in one way or another, has in common. All of us are addicted to something in this world, whether it be drugs, alcohol, love, music, art, anything! I’ve also known a lot of friends and even some family members who have dealt with or are still going through addiction. It’s a tough subject that I feel needs to be talked about.” And how right he is.
There is such a positive energy surrounding “Poison”. Its modern rock vibe is exactly what I look for in music of my own to listen to. I hit “play” and fell in love with how beautifully this song was written and produced. Tryzdin’s vocals really shine and it’s just great to hear this young man now compared to where he was on Season 19 of American Idol.

Q&A with Tryzdin
Q: What kickstarted your music career?
TRYZDIN: My music career started at the age of 11 after a video of me singing Adele’s hit single “Hello” went viral in 2016. After the video reached over 250 million views worldwide, I started working with Saint Mars, a band from the UK. I started creating music with them while also making music for my solo career.
Q: “Poison” is your third release as a solo artist. Can you tell me what your creative process was in making it?
TRYZDIN: Poison started with a pen and a notepad, I started writing the song in March of 2021. I started writing words and phrases in my notebook trying to relieve major writers block. All of a sudden I wrote down “I know that I’m stuck, let me sip til I’m drunk, I’m feeling the poison” which then became the hook of “Poison”.
I knew I wanted the song to be about substance abuse and addiction. Growing up and hearing stories about family and friends who had dealt with it made me realize how much it can affect someone. I feel music is a therapy and it has the power to heal thousands. I really hope this song spreads awareness about the effects and mindset of one dealing with addiction.
Q: You’ve worked with some pretty big names: Herbert Skillz, Brent Paschke, Robert Brian, Angelo Bruschini, Droid Bishop, and others. What was that like?
TRYZDIN: Knowing that Ive worked with many amazing artists like the ones listed, truly makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. Being able to work with musicians who have worked with artists I look up to makes the creative process easy and not so difficult. They are all amazing people and I’m so proud to have them apart of this amazing journey. I hope to continue to work with them in future releases.
Q: Who else would you like to collaborate with?
TRYZDIN: Someone I would love to collaborate with in the future would be Bille Eilish. I’ve looked to her as a role model and an idol in my music career. She expresses herself very well through music and I would love to be able to write and release a song with her. It would be a dream come true. I would also love to collaborate with Dan Reynolds, the lead singer for Imagine Dragons.
Q: What’s been the biggest highlight of your music career so far?
TRYZDIN: The biggest highlight of my music career thus far has a been the amazing accomplishments of my single “Whisper”. Whisper has gained over 473K streams on all platforms. I’ve received so much love and an outpour of support. The song talks about being in and getting out of an abusive relationship and how when you are in a situation like that it’s hard to open up. It talks about always feeling like you are “Whispering through the pain”.
Q: What is one album you would take with you if you were stranded on a desert island?
TRYZDIN: The album I would take with me would be Billie Eilish “Happier Than Ever”. The album is so well produced and really fits me as an artist and is my all time favorite album at the moment.
