“Sunday Evening” by Blake Baker

Most of us are unfortunately familiar with the Sunday Blues. That small pit of dread knowing the peace of the weekend is coming to a close, and the responsibilities of the weekdays are approaching. “Sunday Evening” by Blake Baker captures that feeling perfectly, giving you solace in knowing that everyone experiences this kind of resistance to an oncoming week. Atmospheric guitar, a steady beat, and gripping vocals let you take a break from your dread with the lovely sounds of this song.

“Sunday evening with you, trying not to get the blues.” Many of us dread the week because of the stress responsibility can bring, but Baker’s blues also come from having to be parted with his love. In this song, he sings about the perfect Sunday, where he and the person he loves can just sleep in, hide from the world, and be sheltered from reality. He says “we got all we need right here,” showing he feels no lack in his life because of how fulfilling this relationship is.

The dream of a life with no time constraints and no monotonous nine-to-fives is something we don’t want to wake up from, mirrored in the lyric “don’t wake me up I’m so in love.” This dream can never really be a reality, though, so we have to try to make the best of the moments we love with the people we love.
