Look over the shoulder of UK-based artist Robin Shaw with his goodbye letter inspired song “Yours Sincerely.” The song is the singer’s first single of 2023. Shaw worked closely with Chris Hall on this as well as the music he has released over the past six years. He has been featured on numerous radio stations like BBC Introducing Norfolk and Suffolk, London Radio One and more. Shaw has collaborated with rapper DJ Ironik and their single garnered over 170,000 streams on Spotify.
“Yours Sincerely” is vulnerable inside and out. Through the production and writing, Shaw chose to let the words speak for themselves. The simplicity was a great decision for a song about something so powerful. Shaw cites Selena Gomez’s “Lose You To Love Me” as an influence for the song, and it is obvious in terms of how he bares his heart on the track.
Shaw is able to show maturity in this song by showing that some relationships end, and you can still want the best for someone. He accompanied himself with simple piano chords and sang the words straight from the heart. His voice is comparable to singers like Calvin Harris and James Bay. “I could have got lost with you / instead I got lost without you” is one of my favorite lines in the song because he shows his clever lyric writing and adds his own twist on the story.
