A modern day rockstar with a mission, Shannon Darcy has put out her new single “Easier Said Than Done.” Darcy prides herself as an artist bringing authenticity back to the alt rock and punk scene. She has already seen much success, including performing for a crowd of 10,000 people and winning multiple awards at the South East Entertainment Awards. Darcy has continued to persevere and bring realness into her writing and journey. Her eclectic taste in music contributes to her unique edge and original sound.
Darcy displays an emotional voice throughout the song, emulating her influences like Alanis Morrisette and Hayley Williams of Paramore. The single is very dynamic, starting soft and small and building confidence throughout. The soft intro ends with a laugh and launches the song into an electric energetic world.
The listener can take away that this is an issue between the narrator and a family member, especially with the lyrics, “I can’t express it enough / when you’re supposed to be my blood. / I love you I really do / but I don’t trust you.” Darcy constantly repeats her frustration, driving home that she has constantly been let down by the family member again and again and she is tired of empty promises.
When asked what she hopes listeners would take away from the song, Darcy shared, “I hope that anyone who has been through a similar experience can connect with this song and understand how hurtful it is to have that experience happen over and over again. In a way, this song is just a huge middle finger to those people that hurt us!”
So go rock out to this song in your car at full volume!
