“Shotgun” by Chris Erasmus

Chris Erasmus is a multitalented artist and really shows his performance abilities in his newest release. “Shotgun” is not just a song but a performance, showcasing many different elements of storytelling not just through the lyrics but also through the intentional instrumentation. This song really reaches new heights in order to convey the message.

Chris Erasmus has a voice that feels natural when telling a story. His pitch work is focused and strong, hitting all the notes needed to really relay the importance of the lyrical journey. You can definitely feel the influence of Erasmus’s performance background in the tellings of this song. His emotion is apparent in many ways than one.

“Shotgun” has rock and country influences which sets it a part from your ordinary folk song. It starts off with acoustic arrangements just to fully hit an electronic guitar solo after the bridge. This song is carried into different levels through not just the vocals but the instrumental intention as well.

The fade off of the electric guitar is a nice touch when ending the song. It gives the listener a chance to really focus on what they felt when hearing such a dynamic song. Chris Erasmus is definitely one to watch and I can’t wait to see a live performance.
