Shaun Lewis knows how to turn up the heat, and his latest release, SL EP 3, keeps that streak alive. As the third installment in his series of EPs, this one continues to build on his signature sound, but Lewis finds ways to make each track feel distinct. What really sets him apart is his ability to craft instrumental journeys that pull you in, blending emotion with technical prowess.

The opener, “Sister Power,” is a standout introduction, roaring to life with soaring guitar solos and tempered by his soft, almost understated vocals. It sets the tone for the record, offering an energetic but balanced start that smoothly transitions into the next track. “Death in The Dark” takes things in a different direction, with a grittier edge that provides a welcome contrast, giving listeners something new to sink their teeth into.

At the heart of SL EP 3 is Lewis’s guitar work. His ability to shape a mood through intricate arrangements is second to none, often making the instrumentals feel even more impactful than the vocals. There’s a rawness in the drum solos and guitar lines that carries an emotional weight, amplifying the intensity of the songs in ways that words can’t always match.

“Last Night at Midnight” taps into life’s quieter moments, finding meaning in the everyday, while the closer, “I Want You,” shifts the tone to a more love-centered vibe. It’s a refreshing end to the EP, offering a lighter, more intimate feel that rounds out the record beautifully. SL EP 3 shows Shaun Lewis’s knack for balance and progression, making it clear he’s a force to be reckoned with.
