Known by their fans as a beacon of light and optimism that shines through the UK, Bristol-based pop-rock outfit Chandra has given fans all they could have asked for with a steady stream of releases over the past few years. With this well-cultivated upbeat disposition, the group embarks on the next stage in their musical journey and calls for action to save a world they so blatently cherish with their latest single, “We Want Our Planet Back.” Through this new release, the artists instill a sense of awareness and motivation in their audience to continue to do their part to preserve our world and show reverence for something that has given us all so much.
The piece begins with a rambunctious and thrilling, yet melodic, instrumental introduction, reminiscent of the raw, guitar-driven musical energy that defined the golden age of rock. A voice then shouts, “Here we go” in a hearty and motivated tone, and the music takes flight. From the opening line, “We undersigned have identified, that the planet’s in need, getting smothered in greed, come and sing with me” there is no ambiguity as to the song’s intentions as they cultivate a sense of enthusiasm to take action with every verse.
In creating this anthematic battle cry that is entirely their own, Chandra further proves their musical identity and adds to their well-cultivated repertoire that defines their intentions as artists to the core. Much like their previous work, it feels impossible to take their music in without a newfound sense of motivation to make the world a better place every opportunity we have.
