Q: We love your songwriting! What first got you into music?
DAVID BARON: I grew up in the music business. My dad was a recording engineer so I was exposed to a lot of music as a kid. I started to write pieces as soon as I could play.
Q: What has been one of your most favorite memories along the path to making “Moonlight”?
DAVID: I enjoyed being in the studio with Will Bryant. He’s a very talented and creative artist. I loved recording his harmonies. He has a great ear and stacks them naturally.
Q: What do you do when you AREN’T working on music?
DAVID: Biking and hanging out with my son.
Q: Walk us through your writing and production process in making “Moonlight”.
DAVID: It was started as a sketch. I had the chorus idea and a piano riff. I invited Will over to help complete the song. We wrote the rest in the studio.
Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?
DAVID: Chamber-pop. Cinematic.
Q: What is coming up next for you?
DAVID: More songs! Both with guest artists and my partner Kevin Kadish.
A solo piano record that I recorded directly to analog two-track tape.
