Q: Hey Rya, we love having you here on Rising Artists!Tell us your story behind your newest single “Unlikely”.
RYA: This song is about how the people around you aren’t always ready to support you and believe in your dreams. For some people, it can be intimidating, and they want to hold you back. I think that you shouldn’t let people like that stop you from being great.
Q: Do you play any instruments besides vocals?
RYA: Yes! I’m mainly a bassist and vocalist, but I also play the drums, guitar, and piano. I’ve also started learning the ukulele, though I’m not very good!
Q: Wow that’s awesome! Will you be gigging or touring?
RYA: Absolutely! I’ve been putting in a lot of work into my live set and it’s almost ready. My next gig is on the 7th August; you can find the details in my Instagram bio!
Q: What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
RYA: For me, being an artist isn’t always great, there’s a lot of work that goes in. But there are certain moments like performing live, or jamming to music you’ve made, that are incredible, and make everything so worth it.
Q: Where was your current project recorded?
RYA: ‘Unlikely’ was made from idea to the finished project by myself, in my tiny bedroom. It was a challenge that I really enjoyed, and I’m happy with how it sounded!
Q: What is coming next for you?
RYA: I have a lot more singles planned for release, and I’m hoping to start touring next year. There are a lot of awesome things happening for me right now, so I’m trying to make the most of it!
