Artist Interview: “The Lucky One” by Livva

Q: I love how emotive “The Lucky One” is. Can you tell us the message behind the song?

LIVVA: That no matter what happens to you in life if you find the courage to look at the situation from a different angle you actually can see that the pain you went through made you a winner, a Lucky One.

Q: What is the inspiration for “The Lucky One”?

LIVVA: I’m a single mom. This is the most honest song I’ve ever written. It is probably even too honest.
It’s me realizing at 4 months pregnant that I will be a single mom

Q: Is there a specific aesthetic or feeling that you envisioned to encompass with your music?

LIVVA: I wasn’t planning to release this song to be honest. It was supposed to be for my private archives.
But one thing I’ve learned in the last year is that I should stop planning. So it just me being honest about my feelings which made the song into dark pop.

Q: Who are some of your biggest influences?

LIVVA: RY X

Q: Tell us more about your journey as a musician?

LIVVA: I came to Canada 10 years ago and one of my first jobs was at the music store. When it was pretty quiet and no customers during the day
I would teach myself piano through youtube and a year later I wrote my first song. Since then songwriting became part of my life

Q: What is the next exciting thing for us to look forward to?

LIVVA: I’m working on my 2nd EP which I’m planning to release this summer /early fall of 2022
