“Blitzkrieg” by CRISPR Kid

Dublin based band, CRISPR Kid have spent the last few years causing a stir amidst the Irish music scene, with headline gigs in top venues and blistering live performances. The four-piece released their debut EP ‘Fresno Rescue Mission’ in December 2019 and have recently finished their upcoming album ‘Down with the Kid’, set to release in March ’22. Though its soundscape is unknown, the fact it’s housing the incredible and immersive new single ‘Blitzkrieg’ has already got the rock scene buzzing.

Since 2019, home-recordists Pauric Sweeney (singer) and bassist Stephen Browne have been song writing with Dublin producer Phil Dobie and incredible Brazilian drummer Romulo Passos. It was only after Gary Mackey joined in on lead guitar, however, that the 4-piece was fully formed.

Described perfectly by Hotpress as “Arena ready Indie-Rock”, CRISPR Kid have defined their ambitious and energetic sound through old fashioned integrity and passion mixed with modern day awareness and rectitude.

The band themselves say:

“It’s no accident that the band’s name alludes to the controversial C.R.I.S.P.R. gene editing phenomenon. They decided to democratise their own genes – or mixes to be precise – by posting the recorded stems on the day of all releases for free on CrisprKid.com – thus allowing up and coming producers/engineers to attempt their own versions”.

The band’s ability to mould catchy melodies and strong lyricism into brilliantly produced tracks is only half of the reason why they’re such a rising talent. Their strong work ethic and formidable live performances is the other. ‘Blitzkrieg’ is cool, fresh and effortlessly well-produced, marking CRISPR Kid as one of Ireland’s most unique upcoming rock bands.
