The Onyria project, founded by singer Helena, and producer/guitarist Simon J. Gillman. They stepped into the scene in 2013 and nine years later, they are still here and now giving us fresh new hits such as their new single “Living the Lie”. They transitioned from early gothic rock to an alternative rock, a more straightforward style. They describe themselves as a genuine alternative rock/post-grunge band, embellished with dynamics and variety, while exposing a certain degree of vulnerability and criticism against society in lyrics.
Their newest single “Living the Lie” was written as a testament on how much people are deceived into thinking about the perfect lives that media tries to sell us. It is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of the world and to stay in this mindset of perfection. Seeing everyone around you being “happy” while you’re struggling with your depression may be a breaking point for some.
“Living the Lie” is a hard hitting and matter of fact song. Helena’s raspy yet melodic vocals will immediately hook you into the song. When she screams and Simon shreds on the guitar you won’t be able to stop yourself from head banging or maybe even moshing.
