Q: I love the genre-fusing feel of “Leave Alone”! It feels like I’m listening to an 80s rock track at one point, and then these electronic vibes come to it. Who are your biggest influences?
ODEONS DUO: We listen to a lot of different artists from different genres, from all decades, and from all over the world. That gives us a lot of influence on the writing and production side. Mostly we are influenced by stories that life creates; individual and collective triumphs, tragedies, and everything in between. And love. Love is always an influence in all its forms.
Q: The production on this track is flawless! Walk us through your writing and production process in making “Leave Alone”?
ODEONS DUO: Last summer we went through a lot of riffs and ideas. “Leave Alone” was one of the last ones we tried, but it surprised us with its rhythmic pulse and compelling 80’s flavor. Then we pre-produced the demo and started finalizing it with our international collaborators. The mix and the master were completed at the end of 2021. It was a long process for us because we really wanted it to take us into new places sound-wise.
Q: Your voice is truly remarkable; your vocal range is impeccable. What inspired you to write “Leave Alone”?
ODEONS DUO: The inspiration behind the song is that sometimes you have to let go of your pain, your wants, and your needs that keep you locked in a situation. They become the “devil” in the story. Then when you are able to free yourself from that situation you can embark on a trip to the “great unknown”, and turn your journey more toward the positive. Sometimes that means finding something new, sometimes it can help to make amends later on. Sometimes it’s a short journey, sometimes a longer one.
Q: The melody on this track is so catchy and infectious! What did you enjoy most about making “Leave Alone”?
ODEONS DUO: The whole process is always an adventure for us, and this time even more so, because “Leave Alone” will be the song that transitions us much more towards a unique pop sound. So in addition to enjoying the process where the song came together bit by bit, we also enjoyed the possibilities it revealed with every iteration.
Q: Who would you most like to collaborate with in the world if it could be anyone?
ODEONS DUO: Our philosophy in making music is all about collaboration, but mainly we like to collaborate with talented up-and-coming vocalists, and seasoned industry veterans, that can bring a specific ingredient to a song. We don’t have any favourites, as we truly like and appreciate everyone we work with.
Q: Do you have any projects currently in the works?
ODEONS DUO: Yes, of course. We are currently finalizing pre-production on two songs, that will completely revitalize our sound towards pop. This process in the evolution of our sound is making us very excited. The stories in both songs are also very close to our hearts.
Q: Any parting words for your fans?
ODEONS DUO: We appreciate each and every one of you, and are grateful that you are along for the ride. You help us evolve as writers and producers.
