“Sounds Gay, I’m In!” by Resting B!tch Face

In recent years, Birmingham UK’s unapologetic pop-punk band Resting B!tch Face has made a name for themselves in the underground music scene. After the release of their single “BYOB” last year, fans have been quietly waiting for their next release. The group’s upcoming debut EP, “Sounds Gay, I’m In!” is set to be out in March 2024. So get excited for six show-stopping tracks about taboo topics that must be discussed. On top of meaningful lyrics, the songs are highly fun-loving and catchy. Consisting of jangly guitars, drums, bass, and uplifting, quirky vocals, “Sounds Gay, I’m In!” will make you smile, dance, and think hard.

“Sounds Gay, I’m In!” tackles topics ranging from LGBTQ+ rights, body positivity, racism, and misogyny. The EP starts with the intense track “Straight White Man” and continues to have these uncompromising songs throughout. The blunt track begins with the lyrics, “Drinking cuz I hate my wife” and “I can walk alone at night, ha ha…” right away, poking fun at how easy some of these men have it. Following this track is “Cauterize The Critics,” a body-positive forthright song. The song has clever lyrics, mocking the thought that women only get dressed up for men: “Everything I do, after all, is just for you… put makeup on just for you.” With an explosive chorus stating, “F**k the beauty standards,” this power anthem is genuinely unique.

Other songs include, “Good Girl” which laughs at the thought of always needing to be perfect, “Par for the Course,” a high-powered song consisting of a hard-hitting instrumental, and “Revolution” which highlights the talented vocal range of both Jasmin aka ‘Resting Witch Face’ and Queen Yatisha aka ‘Resting Regal Face.’ Ending with a fun cover of Doja Cat’s “Boss Bitch” is the ultimate conclusion for this eccentric EP.

On top of Jasmin and Queen Yatisha, Resting B!tch Face consists of many other talented artists. In the band includes Jay Newton, aka ‘Resting Vegan Face’ and Joe Duignan, aka ‘Resting Grump Face’ on guitar/vocals; Sar/Lou, aka ‘Resting Bass Face’ on bass/backing vocals; and Jackson, aka ‘Resting Blast-Beat Face’ on drums.

Take a listen to Resting B!tch Face’s other music to prepare for the excitement that their EP will bring forward. “Sounds Gay, I’m In!” will be released on March 8th, 2024 and will be available on most major music streaming platforms.
