A project over 15 years in the making, NYC based artist minus32heartbeat has released the second single “The City Shines So Bright” from his upcoming debut album DHRICMV. The creator behind minus32heartbeat is Matt Friedlander, he wrote, recorded, and performed every instrument by himself on this project. He was previously part of NYC band The GoStation, but now focuses more on his solo work and enjoys time with his wife, son, and dog.
The song has a driving force throughout, with roaring guitars and drums setting the pace. Minus32Heartbeat cites Oasis as one of his influences and that comes across in the vocals. The NYC based singer has this conversational, softer voice that is mixed more inside the instruments, allowing his voice to become an instrument too.
Overall, the song has real heart in it and the electric guitars are a real spotlight.
