“Halfway Boys“ by Tom Collins

“Halfway Boys,” the latest track from alternative rock artist Tom Collins, is an infectious, hard-hitting song that urgently resonates with the pressing issues of our time. The song exudes a strong nostalgia vibe, thanks to Collins’ 90s punk-esque voice, and the guitar and drum-heavy instrumental. Not only does the song have a captivating melody, but it also serves as a call for immediate attention in our current society, addressing taboo topics such as poverty, addiction, and child neglect. “Halfway Boys” is an extremely important and engaging song to listen to.

“Halfway Boys” begins on an extremely high note—a high-speed instrumental consisting of jangly guitars and drums, which serves as the driving force for the song’s aurora. The catchy tune is soon overlapped by Collins’s vocals, a unique blend that carries both grittiness and vulnerability, adding a profound emotional depth to the song.

Collins’ cry-like vocals, almost sound like a cry for help for society. His lyrics, such as “He won’t go to school today, surrounded by class A’s” and “Smell of beer and cigarettes; another pregnancy test,” are truly heart-wrenching, but is important to hear. The chorus, “Halfway boys, they don’t have much choice,” evokes a sense of empathy for many children around the world.

Hailing from North Wales, Tom Collins began his musical journey at a young age and even appeared on ITV’s The Voice UK in 2022. “Halfway Boys” is guaranteed to cement Collins in the music scene further, as he is an important voice and discusses fundamental, raw topics. The song was mixed in Liverpool by Alex Quinn (The Royston Club), a renowned producer. “Halfway Boys” is available now wherever you stream music.
