“Cage” by Dead By All Means

With a heavy metal sound and a determination to spread their music across the world, Bulgarian alt-rock outfit Dead By All Means has emerged from the studio with their latest single “Cage.” In their third release of the year, the band completes the hat trick and proves their recent success has been far from a fluke. Through this release, it appears the project has not only found its comfort zone but defined it as the track proves to be a showcase of its proclivities for building a world of its own through its music.

The piece begins with a series of rapidly picked and reverberating guitar notes to build suspense. As the percussion counts the rest of the band in, the song explodes with vitality as the string parts play off one another with increasing enthusiasm. Vocalist Ivaylo Georgiev soon after begins the narrative, setting the scene with the opening line “Say what you’re going to say, don’t mind hearing it anyway, ‘cause now nothing can hurt me.” Similar to powerhouses of the genre such as A Day to Remember or I Prevail, they blend extreme with soulful expressions both through vocal and instrumental emphasis.

Characterized by the intensity of Georgiev’s vocal inflections and the relentless style of play, the single builds upon itself with every verse. We feel the raw emotions in every note, the vibrations from the speakers through every riff, and the headbanging rhythm of the single’s melodic enthusiasm around every corner. The way this song manufactures adrenaline is unparalleled, jolting you awake and wholeheartedly fueling your spirits.
