“I Don’t Want Your Love” by Goldfinch

San Antonio-based Indie Rock outfit Goldfinch has hit the ground running with the work they have put into their emerging project. Barely a year old, the group has wasted no time in defining their own unique sound and cultivating a clear objective through their music that their fans have found easy to resonate with. With emotionally gripping lyrical motivation delivered through a smooth and touching, yet upbeat and danceable melodic sensibility, the artists make it clear that they put their whole heart and soul into every single. Their newest release “I Don’t Want Your Love” proves to add to their growing legacy as it serves as an anchoring touchstone to their growing discography.

The piece begins on a softer note as a guitar strums in tandem with the appearance of frontman Tony Shepherd’s vocals, starting the narrative from the first moments with the opening line “We both know it’s the end before you take it all from me again, but there’s nothing left for me.” The emotive weight of the lyrics serves as a poignant soliloquy to the audience to reflect the gravity of the words before the tempo quickly hastens and the song takes on a heavier, melodic rock feel.

The single’s merit proves itself through its lyrics and instrumentality, as well as the messages it cultivates throughout. Embodying the classic themes of classic rock such as angst and rebellious intent, we feel the connection the artists have with their music in every verse and find ourselves lost in the world they create through it.
