“Grizzly Peak“ by Barbaydose, Cam Moss, and Philip Bank$

“Grizzly Peak” by Barbaydose is a compelling hip hop track that draws you in from the first beat, and keeps you hooked until the last. Barbaydose is a rap trio from Oakland that is quickly cementing themself as a rising act to watch. They effortlessly blend classic hip hop sounds with their own fresh style, consistently delivering tracks that only seem to get better. “Grizzly Peak” features two other talented artists as well, Philip Bank$ and Cam Moss, and each of them brings something unique to the track, making for a dynamic and compelling sonic journey. 

Most of “Grizzly Peak” is carried by a subtle yet unrelenting beat that builds the groove, as well as an oscillating and repetitive piano melody. This catchy, steady backbone allows the listener to fully take in the lyrics without ever getting bored by the production, and vocal ad libs pop in and out to add some fresh ear candy every so often. 

Each member of the trio, as well as the features, have their own verse. Though all of their styles are unique, they compliment each other perfectly without ever disrupting the flow. Much of the lyrical themes center around thought-provoking and self-reflecting stories, with lines like “all I got in this world is my voice and my pen” getting to the core of who these artists are. The music video shows these musicians performing the song, backed by gorgeous mountain landscapes and ocean views with nostalgic, cinematic coloring that adds an even deeper sense of emotion to the introspective storytelling.
