Q: You have quite an interesting sound that blends dream pop and rock. How did you come up with these ideas?
SOUR BLOOD: I settled on a setup that involved guitar and vocals with a lot of delay and reverb. Using delay as a compositional tool. I would record improvisations extensively and collect the ideas that stuck out as most interesting. These would form the bones of a track which would be built up from there.
Q: Who are some of your main influences?
SOUR BLOOD: For these tracks I would say the likes of Grouper, Arthur Russell & Bradford Cox.
Q: If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?
SOUR BLOOD: My Gretsch bass 6, a few Elektron machines, laptop, my 2 Uher reel to reel tape machines. Many empty mugs.
Q: You worked with director Hoss LaFleur for the music video of “Sleep Paralysis”. How was that experience?
SOUR BLOOD: Sean did it all in the woods near where he lives. It was his first video, and we’re really proud of it.
Q: What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?
SOUR BLOOD: Currently, practising the liveset. Gigs before the end of the year for sure.
