Artist Interview: “Dead To Me” by Noah Richardson

Q: “Dead To Me” is such a catchy, fun farewell to someone who is finally dead to you! Can you tell me the inspiration behind this track?

NOAH RICHARDSON: Thank you!! Yeah honestly this is just a sort of “airing of the grievances” about a falling out I had with some people very close to me. That moment in the shower where you’re re-enacting everything you “should have said”. This is that.

Q: “Dead To Me” is going to be on your debut album; what can fans expect from this new body of work?

NOAH: Honestly, I hope to just really introduce myself with this album. It kind of documents lots of real-life events/emotions I’ve had over the past year as well as my story of growing up in a funeral home and becoming a songwriter.

Q: What do you hope listeners take away from this track?

NOAH: The ability to stand up for yourself. Funny enough, being a relatively tall person and where I’m from, people would never think that I’ve had trouble standing up for myself. This song definitely helped me find that courage and I hope listeners can find that too.

Q: I obviously haven’t heard any other songs from your debut album, but I feel like “Dead To Me” is almost a goodbye to someone, yet also a hello to a new phase of your life & music; Am I right at all here?

NOAH:  Hahaha. I guess in some ways you are right… honestly might just be me being petty for a whole 4 minutes though hahaha.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about the music industry?

NOAH: Recently, I was lucky enough to speak with Kara Dioguardi at a songwriting pop-up for her new Briidge app. She gave lots of incredible advice but what really stuck out to me most was the emphasis on the song itself… and the song’s ability to connect with the listener. If it’s not a good song that connects, then it doesn’t matter.

Q: What was your favorite part in creating “Dead To Me”?

NOAH: Recording this track was extremely fun, but nothing was better than shooting the music video. Being able to bring in my funeral home upbringing was totally full-circle for me and I’m extremely happy I got to do that. MIIIXEW and Vic Antonio were rock stars in organizing this as well as my co-star Sophia Schiaroli. Truly excited for everyone to see it.

Q: What would you like to say to your fans out there?

NOAH: Just thank you. Thank you for supporting me and allowing me to continue to pursue this life. None of this is possible without you guys and I hope you enjoy the album!!!
