If you want a new catchy indie rock tune slanted towards garage and emo, look no further than Love Ghost’s “Dirty Pixx.” Love Ghost has been on the scene for a few years, and in that time has released an impressive selection of singles. Most members of the five-piece band have been playing music since they were kids, and frontman Finnegan Bell cites growing up listening to his parent’s Nirvana albums as a major influence. Needless to say, then, that this band is pretty well-versed musically.
You can smell the teen spirit emanating off of “Dirty Pixx.” Though on the surface this song is about a girl sending dirty pictures, it’s also a story of young and innocent love. Bell sings, “Always viewed love from the sidelines, now I feel like it’s my time. It’s just you and me, I could do this for a lifetime.” Everyone can relate to the nostalgic feeling this track describes. A highlight of the song is Bali Baby’s rapped verse, which adds to the genre-bending nature of “Dirty Pixx” while still blending in seamlessly.
The listening experience is incomplete without watching the music video, which is very artfully crafted with lots of visual effects and eye popping colors. It’s clear in the video how much fun the band has together, as we see interspersed scenes of them jamming out with guitars and dancing in a living room. The video also fleshes out the song’s story, adding some fun details. “Dirty Pixx” is another great dance-able banger from Love Ghost, and I can’t wait to see what else the band has in store for listeners.
