“Past Lives” by Denials

There’s a first time for everything and in this case it’s the Denials first release, “Past Lives”, an EP from the duo that is new to the scene. They are a name that you haven’t heard of yet but it will be a name that you won’t forget. Steve White and Lee Crimes make up this post hardcore duo that comes from North Wales and Manchester. The talented pair wrote and recorded this EP in their home studio and then had some help mixing from Bob Cooper of Chairworks Studios.

The EP starts off with self titled track “Past Lives”, it comes in on the quieter side then punches you in the eardrums with the heavy guitar and drums. It feels like these guys are professionals and have been doing it for years, it’s easy to almost immediately get lost in the song. If this is the way the EP starts off then you have no idea what to expect next.

The nostalgic sound from the duo makes you feel like you’re back in the early 2000s when music seemed to be a lifeline. You can hear that they put their emotions into these tracks, you can feel the realness and the raw pain from the vocalist, it makes you hurt but the good kind of pain.

As the EP goes on you’ll start to see the genre bending styles from the duo, the slow and calm side and also the heavy hard hitting side, they cater to all your needs. This EP will be played on repeat, you won’t be able to help yourself from falling in love with their music.

This is only the first release which means there is more to come and it will be epic, you have to believe that anything they produce will be awesome. The way they can get you into your emotions, the name Denials is accurate because you won’t be able to deny your feelings.
