“Soft Spot” by Bunny Alex

With her heart on her sleeve, Bunny Alex’s releases her love-infused bedroom pop single “Soft Spot” available everywhere now. The Liverpool-based singer, moved to her now home during lockdown to study music. Bunny Alex has had a lifelong love with music and writes about almost every aspect of her life. Touching on topics like pain and heartbreak, this is her first real track about unrequited love.

She cites many women in pop from Taylor Swift to MUNA, and she would fit right in with the group. Lyrically, the song is similar to Paramore’s After Laughter where the fun upbeat lyrics are contrasted by the feeling that the love is not felt by her crush. Her lyrics, ““Don’t you slow down baby just keep it cool, I’ve got a soft spot baby, a soft spot for you” also mirror her influence of Taylor Swift and her song “Delicate,” which is another song about falling in love with someone but trying not to fall too fast.

Bunny Alex is both a co-writer and co-producer on the single, the layered synths and harmonies are electric yet smooth. She has such vulnerability across everything she sings. She has been able to infuse all these influences and create a song all her own. She shares that Jack Antonoff would be a dream collaborator as he has worked with many of Bunny Alex’s influences and would be a great fit.

Overall, the song being called “Soft Spot” captures a softness in the lyrics and production, and it is a strong release that shows the ever-growing strength of rising artist Bunny Alex.
