Q: I absolutely love everything about “What We’re Here For”, from the upbeat instrumental to your profound lyrics. What was your favorite part in creating this track?
RAYLR: This was the first track we all worked on together, so bringing the song to life as a band was our favorite part.
Q: From the look of the lyrics, “What We’re Here For” seems to be about not knowing what this life is all about. Can you walk me through the inspiration behind “What We’re Here For”
RAYLR: What we’re here for is a somewhat sarcastic commentary on the prevalent culture.
Q: Do you remember when you first fell in love with music? Was your family musical growing up?
RAYLR: We all come from various musical backgrounds. a lot of us first found music in church. it was a place where we all were able to develop our love and skill. as for family influence, some of us have music in our family, but not all of us. we’re very thankful to be able to have gotten to where we are and have the support of our families through it all.
Q: What do you hope listeners take away from listening to “What We’re Here For”?
RAYLR: That sometimes it’s good to take a step back and evaluate your surroundings, how they’re influencing your life, and what you want to do about it in order to get where you truly want to go
Q: I love the feel of “What We’re Here For”; it has some old-school rock vibes reminiscent of Tom Petty, but also has such a modern indie-rock element to it. Who are your biggest musical influences?
RAYLR: John Mayer, the band camino, the 1975
Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?
RAYLR: We find our music to fit best in the alternative indie pop/rock genre, but we love to add elements that pay homage to the various musical backgrounds we come from.
Q: Walk me through your writing and production process in making “What We’re Here For.”
RAYLR: What we’re here for started as a bedroom jam on an acoustic guitar in the beginning of the covid 19 lockdowns. later on that summer, richard and a good friend of the band, chris dileo, demoed out the early idea. months later the song found itself in the hands of the band and everyone got to work bringing that demo to life. between chris and the band, what you hear now when you listen to the track was created.
Q: What’s next for you? Touring? New Music?
RAYLR: Currently, we are working on our debut EP. once that is out we look forward to playing for shows, writing more music, and continuing to push deeper into this industry together.
