Q: I love how the song starts off with the acoustic guitar then comes in the electric guitar. In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?
BENNYKAAY: Thank you! My music is usually a blend of rock & pop music. I grew up listening to a lot of pop punk music. In my own songs I try to combine that rock sound with modern pop production techniques.
Q: What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?
BENNYKAAY: To me what makes my records special is that it’s 100% me. I do all the production, play every instrument and record everything on my own.
Q: Who are your main musical influences?
BENNYKAAY: Since I was like 6 years old I wanted to become a musician because of bands like Blink 182 & Bloodhound Gang. Nowadays I listen to a lot of modern HipHop & Trap.
My taste in music & influences are all over the place at the moment haha.
Q: Everyone does this, so I have to know if you do too. Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
BENNYKAAY: Unfortunately I do not sing in the shower. But my best ideas usually come to me while showering. From business plans to song ideas.. I get so much done in that shower haha.
Q: Everyone has a unique way of doing things, what is your creative process like?
BENNYKAAY: Most times I record random guitar ideas or vocal melodies on my phone. I then take those ideas and build an instrumental around them. Then come up with more lyrics and record vocals.
If I decide at some point to not finish the song I usually take the instrumental and sell it to other artists. That way it still gets used for something and doesn’t catch dust on my hard drive.
Q: “On My Mind” released in early April, do you have any projects that are currently in the works?
BENNYKAAY: Hell yeah. I got a new song coming out in a couple of weeks. As of right now I’m working on building a catalog & releasing as much music as I can. We’re still at the start after all. I hopefully got a lot more songs in me that need to come out! Just follow my socials and stay up to date with everything I do 🙂
