Artist Interview: “Lay Down Low” by Hawk and the Wild

Q: Walk us through your writing and production process in making “Lay Down Low”.

HAWK AND THE WILD: It was written during a turbulent time in my life with separation and death in the family. First written and the demo was recorded 10 years ago while  was in a band called “Bonfire Sun.” Never recorded for the band so when picking it up again finding a new guitar picking rythm and writing a new section for the song I knew it was time to finish the song.

Q: Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?

HAWK AND THE WILD: Not really. The interest was there as soon as I started playing an instrument: Guitar. But I found interest in songwriting, production and other instruments as well.

Q: Who would you most like to collaborate with, if it could be anyone in the world?

HAWK AND THE WILD: Bruce Springsteen.

Q: In your own words, how would you describe the music that you typically create?

HAWK AND THE WILD: It’s a typical sound and very clear voice that I have inspiration from both 60s and 70s singer-songwriters. As well as more modern surf and beach music of Jack Johnson, Trevor Hall, etc.

Q: What projects are currently in the works?

HAWK AND THE WILD: I’m writing topline and co-produce songs for other artists. For Hawk and the Wild I am writing new material.

Q: Any parting words to your fans?

HAWK AND THE WILD: Sometimes it’s best to just lay down low. Put down the guns. Lay down the argument. Remind oneself about the frailty of life. The precious moments swiftly passing by are too rare to go unnoticed, sad, angry and alone. Lay down low and letting go is sometimes the only way to make room to let others in and give back.
