Relentlessly addictive alt-pop, Render Ghosts’ new single “Keeping My Number” is witty in spirit and bittersweet in soul, with strong performances and clever lyricism.
The London/Utrecht based trio is made up of Tamara van Esch, Tom O.C Wilson and Iain Chambers. Debuting with their single “Eye Rhyme” in December 2021, the group has since grown an avid fanbase and received extensive critical acclaim with just the one single under their belt. The track was quickly picked up by Amazing Radio, Fresh on the Net and BBC 6 Music Introducing and was met with extremely positive reviews such as:

Both of the trio’s singles are defined by their catchy, passionate identities as well as their unique musicianship. This is no wonder considering the groups musical prowess. Tamara van Esch is well known in the Netherlands as a singer-songwriter singing in Dutch, and as a multi-instrumentalist in bands such as Jo Goes Hunting, Drive Like Maria and Kim Janssen. Tom O.C Wilson is a classically trained composer of chamber pop songs, whose music is described as simultaneously playful, complex and joyous. On top of this, Chambers is a sound artist who uses buildings as instruments, famously turning London’s Tower Bridge into a massive resonating chamber. He’s also a founder member of the experimental electronic ensemble, Langham Research Centre.
“Keeping My Number” is a beautiful step in the right direction for one of indie’s most promising alt-pop newcomers with clever, witty lyrics about getting an ex to finally move on interwoven atop serenely hypnotic synth. The production is stellar and allows Tamara van Esch’s vocals to shine with their expressive vibrancy.
